We’re seeing a lot of unique back-to-back cruises these days, and I always like it when cruise lines come up with “one-of-a-kind” options like three I cruises have for you today.

Two of Holland America’s best-known ships are the Rotterdam (above, capacity: almost 1,400) and the Westerdam (capacity: 1,900). Together, they have the three unique cruises available for next fall and winter.

All three are 30-day voyages covering the Hawaiian, Tahitian and Marquesas islands.

In September, the Westerdam’s voyage begins in San Diego. In early January 2012, and again in March, the Rotterdam departs from the same port. However, on the Westerdam, you’ll able to board in Vancouver or3021.Westerdam 3b 620 Thirty days in the South Pacific Seattle after the ship finishes its Alaska season and is on its re-positioning leg south to California.

The 30-day voyages from San Diego will all stop at Hilo, Lahaina, Honolulu and Hawaii; Fanning Island, Kiribati; Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, and Raiatea, Bora Bora, Papeete, Moorea, Rangiroa and Nuku Hiva, French Polynesia.

Overnight stays are in Lahaina, Hilo, Honolulu and Papeete, Tahiti.

The starting price for the 30-day cruise is $3,848 CAD for an inside cabin, with balconies starting at $5,718.

Carnival, the biggest cruise line in the world that includes brands such as Holland America, Cunard and Princess, showed an increase in revenue to $14.5  billion from $13.5 when the year-end books closed at end of November. All of this came despite the problems with Carnival Splendour, which will still not sail until February 20.

Net income was up to $2 billion from $1.8 in fiscal 2009. How? Revenue was up 7% and costs down 3%.

Looking at 2011, Carnival said booking volumes are strong and prices for them are higher than last year, leading the company to predict a 3-4% increase in constant-dollar net revenue yields for 2011.

That probably means higher prices for your cruise holiday and more ways for Carnival to generate revenue while you’re on the ship.
